Gerd Janson
Get to know the artist
Gerd Janson's DJing is rooted in house and disco and a life spent around record shops, music journalism and clubs. His path runs through southern Germany's Milk and Wild Pitch clubs to the Liquid nights at Robert Johnson with Thomas Hammann. Running Back, the label he runs with Thorsten Scheu, extends that work beyond his own sets.
- Musical background
His early club education included waiting through faster music for the US-style house played later in the night. That history gives useful context to the house and disco thread running through his DJ biography.
- Explore the catalogue
Fabric 89 offers a journey between disco and acid house, opening with Luke Abbott's remix of Todd Terje's Snooze 4 Love and closing with Prins Thomas's take on Caribou's Sun. Follow the published tracklist to explore the individual records as well as Janson's way of bringing them together.
